Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years with At least four (4) years of practical experience in Financial Markets, Banking or research environment.

Minimum Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Financial Economics

Duties & Responsibilities


The principal accountabilities of this position are to:

  • Undertake weekly issuance of Government debt securities in the domestic market and assist with the execution of the borrowing plan in the most cost-effective and desirable manner.
  • Produce monthly written reports on developments in the local market impacting liquidity and local interest rates and advise the MPC and Investment Committee on key developments.
  • Contribute to liquidity forecasts and monitor the domestic market liquidity position and outlook to prompt timely market interventions.
  • Research and keep abreast of international and regional financial market developments to guide the Government on appropriate borrowing strategies.
  • Provide monthly secretarial services to the Technical Committee between the Bank and MoFPE management.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor. Notably, this position reports directly to the Principal Economist: Domestic Markets.
  • The incumbent is expected to provide supervision to a Research Officer. 
  • The incumbent must have good relationships with the Cash and Debt Management Unit at the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, Treasurers and dealers at local commercial banks and stockbrokers, the local stock exchange and NAMFISA.
  • The incumbent will need coordination with other departments in the bank to efficiently and effectively integrate processes, e.g., Research, Currency and Banking, National Payment Systems and Finance & Administration (Back Office).
