Knowledge & Skills
- Networking: Proficiency in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols (such as OSPF and BGP), firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and network security.
- Server Infrastructure: Understanding of server hardware, virtualization technologies (such as VMware or Hyper-V), server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), server provisioning, and administration.
- Storage Systems: Knowledge of storage technologies, including SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network-Attached Storage), RAID configurations, and backup and recovery solutions.
- Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure. Understanding of cloud architecture, services, and migration strategies.
- IT Security: Awareness of security best practices, including network security, access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, and incident response. Knowledge of security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI DSS).
- Active Directory: Understanding of Active Directory (AD) services, including domain controllers, user and group management, group policies, and AD integration with other systems.
- IT Service Management: Understanding of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes and best practices, including incident management, change management, problem management, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, replication technologies, and disaster recovery planning. Understanding of high availability (HA) and fault tolerant systems.
- Proficiency in managing server hardware, rack and stack procedures, cabling standards, power distribution, cooling systems, and datacentre infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.

Duties & Responsibilities
The principal accountabilities of this position are to:
- Responsible for designing, planning, and implementing various IT infrastructure components such as servers, networks, storage systems, and data centers.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, server hardware, network devices, and other infrastructure components.
- Managing and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Establish data backup procedures to safeguard critical information.
- Ensuring the security and integrity of the IT infrastructure is a crucial responsibility.
- Monitoring the performance and availability of infrastructure components, utilising monitoring and capacity planning tools to identify and resolve issues proactively, optimize system performance, and make recommendations for infrastructure improvements.
- Provide technical assistance to end-users, addressing their queries, resolving issues, and troubleshooting problems related to hardware, software, and network connectivity. Support may be offered via help desk ticketing systems, email, phone, or in-person.
- Draft user training for both new and existing systems. Providing guidance on development of user manuals where applicable for internal and external stakeholders that will use the identified systems at the end of system deployments and conduct refresher/awareness campaigns regularly to enable optimal knowledge and use of deployed solutions.
