Duties & Responsibilities


The principal accountabilities of this position are to:

  • To collect, edit, compile data on the External Sector Statistics (ESS) accounts i.e., balance of payments, international investment position (IIP), External debt and Exchange rates, through surveys and administrative records on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as per international standards and best practice, in order to obtain sufficient and timely data to be used for analysis of different reports and data dissemination to the public for economic analysis.
  • To create and update the external sector tables, charts and statistical calculations on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure accurate data for analyses and publication in the various reports of the division.
  • To contribute to the regular update of data on the Banks datasphere platform, as well as to the design and establishment of an integrated digital database on external sector-related data.
  • To estimate data for non-respondents and assisting the Senior Economist in regularly identifying, validating prospective data respondents as well as filling ESS data gaps and other relevant data to enhance the BoN data collection process for the overall external sector accounts.
  • To update and maintain the ESS database and disseminate timely data on BOP, IIP, External debt and Exchange rates on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis by posting it to the BoN website and open data platform (ODP) for use by internal and external stakeholders.
  • To contribute to the discussions pertaining to the external sector data reconciliation meetings at a statistician level on a quarterly basis with other data producing institutions such as NSA, MoF, etc., to ensure data reliability for users.
