Duties & Responsibilities
The principal accountabilities of this position are to:
• Draft and review complex agreements for all user departments in the Bank in compliance with contemporary drafting conventions to ensure quality assurance and that the interest of the Bank is well covered and protected.
• Oversee and manage efficient contract management system utilisation and secure storage of contracts.
• Draft well-researched legal opinions within the Bank and review administrative decisions for regulatory correctness and compliance with administrative law principles.
• Manage the Department’s risks and compliance by continuously identifying and updating the risk register, tracking the audit findings, and implementing the remedial actions within the agreed timelines.
• Oversee, investigate and analyse consumer complaints/incidents against banking institutions or cause same to be investigated and/or analysed and/or supervise investigations and analyses of consumer complaints/incidents and make recommendations the Head of Department on appropriate enforcement and/or corrective action to be taken.
• Act as mediator between the banking institution and the consumer with the aim of resolving complaints or disputes amicably
• Co-ordinate appropriate action, including preventive action, taken to address sources of complaints, adverse issues and trends identified and foster continuous improvement.
